We only enter a few select wine competitions, so it was a thrill to find out our new Hãhã 2014 Marlborough Reserve Pinot Noir had won a gold medal at the Spiegelau International Wine Competition judged earlier this month.

228 Pinot Noirs were judged, and only a total of 13 golds were awarded, which places us in the top 5% of wines. Now that’s something to celebrate!

A total of 1,263 wines were entered from around the world.

The Spiegelau International Wine Competition was launched in 2011 to provide a platform for producers to benchmark their wines with those from around the world.  The judging was conducted in Blenheim, New Zealand, over 16-18 July 2015 with Mike de Garis as chairman of judges, and Jeff Clarke, Warren Gibson, Olly Masters, Simon Nunns, Kate Radburnd, Jane Skilton MW, Jane Boyle, Jo Burzynska, Sam Kim, Simon Waghorn, Tyson Stelzer and Patrick Haddock as senior judges, the latter two as guests from Australia.
